GM BRAD RANDEL ANNOUNCES RESIGNATION; NEW GM HIRED Tuesday, July 5, 2005
The tenure of General Manager Brad
Randel has ended with his voluntary resignation, the team announced
today.
"It is with great regret that I must announce my
resignation from this fine organization, but it's time for me to step
aside. I wasn't pressured into resigning nor was I ever close to
being fired; rather, this comes from my deep affection for the Bandits,
as I no longer believe that my contributions are in the best interests
of the team. It is time for a change, as the players and the fans
deserve better than what I have been able to give them."
The Bandits immediately announced the hiring of Las Vegas native
Patricia Willis as General Manager and Director of Player Personnel.
"I am very proud to have this opportunity to
work for a team that is on the cusp of being a league champion. It
is not every day that a new GM gets handed a team with so much
potential," Willis said at her introduction. "This is an amazing
opportunity."
Willis, 34, is a Las Vegas native, or as she
terms herself, "A Sin City Original." Willis graduated from Western
High School in 1989 and attended UNLV. For the past seven years
she has worked as VP-Director of Sales at a major auto-finance company,
working for local baseball legend Kevin Higgins. Willis has been
Higgins' key employee for more than 10 years, and has taken advantage of
Higgins' experience to garner an impressive portfolio of sports
management skills.
