ALTERNATE / HOLIDAY UNIFORM |
ALTERNATE / HOLIDAY HELMET & LOGO |
The Bandits have announced a new Alternate/Holiday uniform,
including new logo and helmet, for the 2007 season. The old
Alternate uniform (Nevada Silver Mining Commemorative Heritage Uniforms)
was adopted last year as the new home uniform, and 2006 saw the team not
use an Alternate (or Third) uniform.
The new Alternate/Holiday
uniforms hearken back to the defunct XFL's Las Vegas Outlaws, who were
wildly popular and whose local success prompted the move of the Bandits
from Sacramento to Las Vegas. The adoption of the new
Alternate/Holiday uniforms come too late for any former XFL Outlaws
players to wear, with LB Joe Tuipala having been released last month.
"We've received a lot of fan requests for these while researching what
we should use as a third uniform," said Bandits GM Patricia Willis.
The more we looked at the basic design, the more irresistible they
became. Our phones are already ringing off the hook for a fan
memorabilia release date, so obviously we think these will be very
popular. We're hoping that these uniforms might help us make some
inroads into new markets as well."
The targeted release date for fan memorabilia is
by the end of the year, so fans can start wearing their new team gear to
2007 games. "We are still considering adding in a true
'throwback' uniform, to the original Sacramento Bandits design. We
still have approval on file from the original designer, so there
shouldn't be a licensing problem. This would be a real tip of our
hats to our original fans, and allow them to break out their original
Bandits fan gear with pride, especially now that we are returning
Training Camp back to the greater Sacramento area."
