In order to
more effectively welcome new Bandits players and their families to Las
Vegas, a Mentor Program has been developed to help meet their needs.
First is full relocation assistance, by helping to find the right home
in the community for the new family members. Special attention is
placed on the family's individual needs, including schools assessment
for children. Free orientation is available for family members by
employee volunteers.
Each new player is assigned a Mentor, who is
also either a current or former/retired Bandits player, and who has
lived in the community for at least 2 years. The Mentor assists
the new player in orienting himself to all team facilities, as well as
to notable areas around town; these include businesses and places of
worship, for example, as well as places to avoid.
Bandits owner
Warren Willis explains the importance of the Mentor Program:
"Moving to a new community can be quite a disconcerting experience for
some people, and this program is intended to lessen the anxiety
associated with relocating. Also, we all know how easy it is to
get caught up in the temptations and vices of our town, and this program
is also intended to help keep our newer players from being overwhelmed
by the Vegas experience. The new players are shown many areas to
avoid, but also how to get around town and all the team's facilities.
We place a strong emphasis on professional conduct, and we all want our
players to be able to succeed in our community."
