POST-GAME CAREER PROGRAM Headed by Hernandez "Hunkie" Cooper
The
Post-Game Career program is a new method of assisting players with
developing a new career path after their football playing days are over.
Whether the player has planned for this eventuality and reached it upon
official retirement, or had it sprung upon him suddenly by a
career-ending injury or other circumstance, this program is designed to
assist the players' transition from the playing field.
Each
player goes through a professional skills assessment with a professional
guidance career counselor, under contract to the team. A growing
list of local employers is available, in which these companies have
agreed to give special consideration to Bandits players. The
guidance counselor assists in post-football career placement with this
preferred list of employers, and helps the player maximize his
potential.
Bandits owner Warren Willis emphasizes the importance
of the Post-Game Career Program: "This is one of my all-time
favorite programs we have available for our players, as it helps them to
seamlessly and effectively transition from the playing field to the
business office. It helps lessen the stress of this transition,
and in many cases it has led to these players establishing successful
careers right here in Las Vegas. It is helping to grow a Bandits
Alumni Association, which has the potential to really solidify the
team's long-term position here in Las Vegas. And most importantly,
while certainly not conflicting with anything in the SFLPA Collective
Bargaining Agreement, it gives players a significant extra incentive to
become a Bandit."
