The Bandits are
proud to announce the signing of CB Brian Mance, drafted in the
fifth round from Clemson. Mance is also an accomplished kick
returner, and the Bandits expect to have plenty of work for Mance in the
next several seasons.

solid, lean, wiry frame with good upper and lower body muscle
definition, a tight bubble and tight skin...Has a tight waist with good
hamstrings and calves, lean arms and solid chest...Shows very good
quickness and shows an explosive break on the ball...Smooth in his
backpedal and has the sudden burst needed to stay with receivers deep...
Reads and reacts quickly to the long ball, showing excellent body
adjustment skills as he gets his head turned around properly and snaps
his hips while extending his arms to maintain track of the pass...Has
superb recovery acceleration, showing awareness of the action when
playing in the zone...Stays tight with the receiver and can deliver a
good hand punch in press coverage to jolt the receivers back...Very
aggressive when playing his man in tight quarters and will constantly
battle to get a piece of the ball...Confident and secure tackler with
good functional strength... Plucks the ball from the air with arms
properly extended and can get into second gear quickly to elude
opponents on the interception return...Times the pass perfectly, keeping
eye contact on the ball while keeping the receiver at close
distance...Has natural hands for the interception...Shows proper wrapup
technique, staying low and driving with his legs to plug holes in run
support...Has the sudden burst to get upfield quickly on
returns...Patient waiting for blocks to develop on the return. Plays the
ball high and has natural hands, rarely double catching the
pigskin...Hard worker in the weight room, priding himself on his
conditioning dedication...Very agile in transition, showing the
flexibility to adjust to the ball in flight...Normal strider who stays
in control through his transition...Flashes out of his break with ease
and has the make-up speed to recover...Shows an explosive burst when

was a mainstay in the Tigers' secondary...Joined Tony Horne as only
Clemson players to record a 100-yard kickoff return game and a 100-yard
punt return game in the same season....Started 27 of 47 games,
participating in 1858 plays...Finished his career with 168 tackles (114
solos), three stops for losses of 20 yards, 12 interceptions for 73
yards in returns and 23 pass deflections...Only Fred Knoebel (15,
1950-52) and Terry Kinard (17, 1978-82) had more interceptions in a
career for the Tigers...Added 436 yards (eleventh-best total in school
history) with a touchdown on 27 punt returns (16.1 avg)...Returned 33
kickoffs for 788 yards (23.9 avg)... His 788 yards rank seventh on the
school's career-record list...Only Joe Henderson (27.6 avg, 1987-89),
Tony Horne (26.5 avg, 1994-97) and Terrence Roulhac (26.4 avg, 1983-86)
had better kickoff return averages in Clemson annals. |
